Uggghhh!

We’re sick here again, which is why I haven’t been talking too much. We have fevers and aches and mucus. It sucks. I don’t think it’s the flu but hey, why not. There are several strains of flu, so why not have as many as possible in one year?

I had to set my NaNo down. Just have been too sick to write and I won anyway. I am going to take Sally’s advice though and try to write a treatment of everything that’s left so I can get back to it later… When I’m feeling better, that is.

I owe people comments. I’ll be getting to those too. And other things. *G* I have a winter layout to make as soon as Eloric draws me some more snowflakes and some brushes to make.

Later on, I may detail the dream I had today. It’s rather important.

Is that a proposed ethanol plant or am I just cranky for no reason?

Though the weather is very dandy here at the moment, I’m getting in the mood to make a winter layout for here and to possibly change the layout over at A-T.Net as well. I might just skin that one but somehow I think skinning is much for a resource site. They don’t come for the layout.

I downloaded a trial of PSP IX on Eloric’s computer and so far, I am quite unimpressed. I had hoped they would deal with adding text in a different way- it is so annoying to type in a box and move it around- but they did not. The quality of the bitmap-sized text is also no better in IX than it was in 8, though there are more anti-aliassing (er?) options. I prefer PS for text but I still haven’t been able to find my disk to move it over to the new machine, since the direct cable transfer is *so* not working. I have a sneaking suspicion that it was in the cubby in the desk that Umlaut decided to use as her own personal litterbox and was trashed in utter disgust along with *cry* a Dave Gray single, a copy of my 2004 NaNo novel, and some oldish papers. I should have known better than to keep important things in there. :/

Got a shipment of incense today. *squee* For some reason I’ve become a scented-things hoarder lately- Incense and perfume. Maybe I should pile it all up and lay on it. Perhaps it will give me magical powers. In all fairness however, 50% of what I got today is exactly what my mother wanted for Xmas.

I’m going to mention the proposed Ethanol plant now. I am, naturally NOT FOR IT as it will be ONE MILE FROM MY HOUSE. I do not want to hear it, smell it, lose part of my yard in widening the road for semis, hear more trains in the night, hear more semis at all hours, have to worry about semi wrecks near my house, see the eyesore poking up, or lose more land to crappy industry in this county. I don’t care if it will bring 43 jobs to the county, I don’t care if it will supposedly help the environment- they could have put it in a more appropriate place- That place being anywhere that is not near my house. Also- You- Mayor of the County Seat: You do not live in my town, you have nothing to do with the running of the township, you will not have to live near the plant- Please see about living up to the “Inclusive Community” you told the nation you will have, rather than meddling in something that doesn’t concern you in the lease. None of us want this plant. NONE. Shut up and run your own town. We are all opposed to it; we said so at the town meeting. Die. (Yes, I’ve lost what eloquence I used to have. I’m livid)

I don’t think I am going to do Secret Santa this year. I think I’ll just randomly donate codes to fanlistings and drop random graphics around for people. I don’t think I could keep up enough happy to do someone else justice.

I WIN!

Ding, ding, ding!

I’d like to announce that I’ve broken the 50,000 word mark for my NaNo novel this year. This means that Elerah has just earned herself some perfume.

Now I’m going to take a break and eat some spaghetti.

Note: I rule. *heheheheheh!*

Day 22: Perhaps the final frenzy

Today I am setting myself the very possible task of clearing 50,000 words. I know I can do it- After all, I wrote almost 8,000 words on my first day and I’m capable of writing 4,000 words with considerably less motivation and enthusiasm. We shall see how this plays out.

I managed to get the main male character into the novel yesterday. Of course you’d never know he’s the main, since his friend is ever so much cheerier and outgoing. I’m afraid I am going to have to wound the poor fellow- the main, that is- because I want my female lead to remember him. I just have to get him harmed in a manner that doesn’t downplay his prowess with his blade. I’ll probably use a cowardly sneak-attack. That sounds like a winner. I just have to decide why someone would attack his little group of off-landers. I’m sure there is a good reason somewhere. Something.

The sun is shining today so I might make a mineral essence, I don’t know. I have a stone that has been nagging me for a while. Getting low on bottles though, between decanting tinctures and the essences I made this fall and summer. *sigh*

I did post a new brush set over at aquired-taste last night. I had the stock floating around for quite a long time, so I decided to have at it. It had been over a month since my last posting, so I figured I had better do something before the brush-deprived went insane. It’s just a little bitty set.

Spice Bitty- download over at a-t.net

So, let’s do this!

Day 21: I’m too verbose

I had meant to drag the male lead through the NaNo in during my 3,000 words yesterday but I had to describe the Thaw Fair and many of the things in it and so left the poor fellow hanging out in limbo doing whatever it is I’m having him do before he shows up. He’s supposed to arrive in a group but later he wanders around alone… not sure how I’m getting him to ditch the group… I’ll think of that later. I still haven’t gotten to him today but in all fairness, Thurien kept me up most of the night until I imprisoned him in the bathroom and he fell asleep on the dirty laundry.

Later, I fell asleep on the couch with Nonnie. It’s so easy to fall asleep with a Nonnie. It was only for an hour but between going to the dentist and to the grocery, I’ve lost momentum. Er- to be fair, there isn’t any momentum. I need another cup of coffee. I proabably shouldn’t have the coffee but it’s either that or call today’s total 227 words.

Well, I have to go convince Prosper to get out of the nice, warm cottage so he doesn’t leave me a present to clean up.

*shriek*

Computer, you frustrate me. Why aren’t you happily transferring everything to New Computer? Your cables are proper and connected. I have followed all of the directions you have given me.

If you don’t shape up, I might transfer you to Hel. Your name is Verbage, not Loki.

Day 20: The Return of the Groove

A few days ago, I’m sad to report, I lost my groove. In fact, I was so disgusted by trying to crank out words (as opposed to the actual story) that I didn’t write at all yesterday. I have to make up for that today but I have a plan. I’m going to introduce the main male character. Not only am I going to introduce the male main but I’m actually going to allow him to interact with the female main, though they won’t band together until much later in the story. Much later. I still have to introduce the Master and get that girl trained in the art of slaying undead.

This is only par for the course but I will have all of my words before I finish the story. I’m resigned to the fact. I explained too much in the prologue, though it was great for the word-count and here I am. I think I’ve said so before but if I decide to keep working on this through the winter or if I want to participate in NaNoFiMo, I am going to prune away about 80% of that prologue. I mean, it was great for me to figure out a lot of things about the realm, its history, and its gods- but let’s face it: I really don’t *need* all of that for a good novel. I just had to write it out because I didn’t think of it beforehand.

Prosper has learned how to get let into the cottage. He has also, quite strangely but in a very happy-making way, aped what Pooka used to do. He likes to come up to the front of the house and look into the big picture window and tap on it. No- I don’t like keeping him outside but I still have not been able to convince Eloric that he has been abandoned. We have a place for him; we can afford the shots, the food, and the neutering. I feel badly for keeping him outside.

And in other news- For some reason, the stuff doesn’t want to transfer from the old machine to the new one. I *know* I have the proper cable. I know everything should be kosher. Now I have to call my computer-savvy friend and ask him why the computers refuse to act properly. I have work to do. I need to clean up some graphics, dang it.

And I dunno if I’m going to participate in this year’s Secret Santa over at tfl.org or not. I’ve been feeling terribly anti-social lately. But it would be nice to make things for someone.
